Greetings world! – 42 days pre-arrival

Hello all. I am glad that you have taken time to look into my ramblings as I prepare to embark on my semester abroad in Berlin, Germany. I would be remiss to mention that I am new to this whole blog thing, and that I will use this space to reflect on my experiences and try to better understand myself and the world around me.

My name is Kaleb Kramer and I am currently a senior at the University of Southern Indiana double majoring in Biology and Spanish. I graduate in the spring of 2017, so my semester abroad will be my last semester of undergrad. In August of 2017, I will be attending Indiana University School of Medicine to become a physician. This trip is sort of a treat to myself for getting accepted into medical school, as well as a chance for me to pursue my interests in travel before I start medical school, residency, and become a practicing physician.

I am fortunate to have had travel experience to Europe in the past, as I studied abroad in Spain in the summer of 2014. During my stay that summer, I went to Athens, Greece; Istanbul, Turkey; and Milan, Italy, too. I have also been to the Bahamas, Belize, Canada (twice), Ecuador, and Mexico. I hate to be cliché, but I feel as though I have a lot of wanderlust in my veins, as I am always planning my next trip after I finish one. I grew up on my family’s pig farm in a house surrounded by corn fields. One could say I’ve always had a desire to get a taste for life outside of rural America.

As I figure this site out and prepare to leave the US, I will try to make this page informative, inquisitive, and most of all, me.
